During the first game of Day 2 at the 2022 World Juniors, Sweden took on Switzerland, with the Swedes getting into penalty trouble all throughout.
Late in the third period, Swedish forward Theodor Niederbach hit Swiss forward Dario Allenspach from behind. The officials then reviewed the play for a major penalty and after looking at the video, Niederbach was handed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding.
This is a bit of a questionable decision from the officiating crew. Sure, it was boarding and he deserved at least a two-minute penalty, but Niederbach didn't extend his arms, as TSN's Craig Button and Dennis Beyak pointed out, who agree that the hit didn't warrant a major penalty.
