Before Ward took over, the Flames sat in sixth place in the Pacific Division and were watching their playoff hopes fade away, but he was able to get them back to their winning ways and they're now third in the division with 79 points (36-34-7).
Most figured that he would have the interim tag removed from his coaching title by now, but according to Sportsnet's Eric Francis, Brad Treliving isn't ready to make that decision just yet.
"Not at this point," the Flames GM told Francis on Tuesday.
"That's not to be taken either way. We were in the middle of the last month of our season and all of a sudden it stopped, like running a 100-metre dash in an 80-metre gym. That's certainly an issue that's got to be addressed at some point. I don't know when it is, but we have to work on these other files and get clarification on whether the season is coming back."
Treliving likely planned on seeing how the Flames performed in the playoffs before deciding that Ward was for sure his guy, but with the NHL season hanging in the balance, he may not get that luxury and will have to go off of what he's seen so far this season.
