With the entire world seemingly focused on the COVID-19 pandemic, we get a stark reminder that many are still fighting battles with other diseases. Ottawa Senators goaltender Marcus Hogberg, according to several reports, is in mourning after his father Peter passed away due to cancer.

Hogberg, 25, is currently in his home country of Sweden while the NHL is on hiatus in an attempt to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus. He was drafted 75th overall in 2013 by Ottawa, but just became a fixture for the team this season, playing 24 games. His previous seasons were spent with the Belleville Senators of the AHL and Brampton Beast of the ECHL. He did play four games with Ottawa last season as well.

Our sincere condolences go out to Marcus and the entire Hogberg family at this incredibly trying time.
