The Anaheim Ducks announced Friday afternoon that they have signed 2019 draft pick Trevor Zegras to a three-year, entry-level deal. Zegras was selected 9th overall by the Ducks.

Zegras is an extremely exciting prospect for the Ducks. The recently turned 19-year-old had an incredible season, his first for Boston University, with 11 goals and 25 assists in 33 games. He was named to the 2019-20 Hockey East All-Rookie Team as a result.

“We are happy to get this contract done and start Trevor's professional career,” said Bob Murray, the team's general manager.“ He's got quite a bit of work ahead of him, but we know he's got the talent and intelligence to be an impactful NHL player.”

Zegras became well known to many hockey fans during the 2020 World Junior Championship, as he was the second player since 2004 to record nine primary assists in a single tournament, many of which were highlight reel. The one area Zegras is lacking in is size, as the centermen stands at 6-feet-tall but just 169 pounds. However, he is still extremely young and should be able to add weight to his frame as he gets older.
