The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Wednesday that they've agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth $7.8 million ($2.6 million AAV) with defenceman
Adam Boqvist. Boqvist was set to become a restricted free agent this summer.
"Adam is a talented, mobile defenseman with the ability and creativity to provide offense from the blueline," said General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen. "Despite some injuries, he had a very good first season with our club at the age of 21 and as he gets bigger and stronger, we believe he has the potential to be a very impactful player in this league."
Boqvist, a native of Falun (Sweden), was acquired by the Blue Jackets on July 23rd, 2021 from Chicago in the
Seth Jones trade. The 21-year-old had a strong first season in Columbus, recording 22 points (eleven goals, eleven assists), 12 penalty minutes and was a minus-eleven in 52 games.
