Canadiens, Senators reportedly talking trade involving Josh Anderson

It's not very often you see two rivals talking trade and if it does happen, the majority of the time it's just something minor as in depth players or mid-round draft picks.

Well, it appears that the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators are talking about something big, with Pierre Dorion interested in forwards Josh Anderson and Christian Dvorak, according to Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now.

An NHL source told D'Amico that the Senators are looking to add to their top-six with a player that brings a scoring punch and a physical style. The Senators are open to moving the seventh overall pick in Thursday night's draft, but it's very hard to picture that it would be Anderson for the seventh overall pick straight up. The package, if a deal gets done, would likely include Anderson, Montreal's other first round pick (26th overall), and if they are interested in Dvorak, possibly him too.

When speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Pierre Dorion mentioned that there's a 50-50 chance they use the seventh overall pick.

"I would put it about 50-50 right now, picking seventh," Dorion told TSN 1200 on Wednesday. "We got a few irons in the fire. ... I don't think you can expect anything probably until tomorrow closer to the draft. There's always a chance of moving up, moving down, trading the pick for someone we feel could have an impact in our lineup. So that's where we're looking."

This is a situation to monitor over the next 24 hours leading up to the first round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal.
