Usually in the days leading up to the NHL Entry Draft we find out about any new jerseys that will be debuting in the Fall, but this year it's been fairly quiet, until now.

On Monday afternoon, the Edmonton Oilers posted a picture of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins celebrating a goal wearing their royal blue uniforms with the caption "👀". According to Sportsnet's Mark Spector, the Oilers will be returning to their royal blue jerseys starting next season, getting rid of their orange home jerseys they started wearing when the NHL switched to Adidas as their uniform provider.

The Oilers' royal blue uniforms are up there with the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks and a handful of other teams as the most iconic jerseys in NHL history. They first wore them when they entered the NHL in 1979 up until 1996 when they changed to a navy blue set. From 1996 to 2008, Edmonton wore the navy blue jerseys and in 2008, they brought back royal blue as a third jersey.

In 2013, the Oilers decided to return to royal blue full-time and wore them up until 2017 when they made the change to orange. But royal blue didn't go away for a long time like it did in the 90s. To celebrate their 40th anniversary, the Oilers brought back the royal blue jersey, this time made by Adidas, and wore it a few times during the 2018-19 season.

But that's not the only jersey news we got on Monday for the Oilers. As was reported back earlier in 2022, the NHL will be doing another Reverse Retro jersey series for the 2022-23 season and TSN1260's Tom Gazzola revealed that the Oilers will be bringing back one of the more interesting logos from the mid-2000s.

Gazzola is reporting that the Oilers will be bringing back the Todd McFarlane logo for their Reverse Retro jersey. Their is currently a navy blue version and white version that the Oilers are deciding on, but it's unclear which one will be sent to Adidas for production. Their Reverse Retro jersey for next season will look something similar to the image below.
