Very bad news for the Washington Capitals and their fans. The team has announced
Tom Wilson, a major part of the Caps, will miss a good portion of the 2022-23 season.
"Caps forward
Tom Wilson, who was injured on May 3 in Game 1 against Florida, underwent a successful surgical procedure on his left knee to reconstruct his torn ACL. Based on the nature of this procedure, Wilson is expected to miss 6-8 months." - Capitals PR
Wilson had a career year in several categories last year, netting 52 points in 78 games (24G, 28A). The six-to-eight month timeline puts him back on the ice anytime between December of 2022 and February of 2023. That's a big blow to the Washington Capitals, who rely on Wilson for his ability to agitate and make big hits as much as they do for his offensive prowess.
