During the first period of Monday's game against France, German forward Tim Stutzle was hit into the board and appeared to hurt his knee. He left the game immediately and did not return.

Fans of both the German national team, as well as the Ottawa Senators, have been holding their breath waiting for an update on his injury and now we finally have one.

According to TSN's Gord Miller, Stutzle has a knee strain and wants to keep playing, but the Senators hold the final decision and it's unclear if he will be in the lineup on Thursday against Denmark or at all for the remainder of the tournament.

"An update on Tim Stützle from the @IIHFHockey Men's World Championship: he had an off-ice workout and met with Ottawa's athletic therapist, who is here with Team Canada. He has a knee strain, and while he would like to play, Ottawa will have the final say, and will likely say no."

In three games at the tournament, Stutzle has two assists and four penalty minutes. If he is unable to return, it would be a huge blow for Germany's chances at a quarter-final spot.
