Day 4 at the 2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship saw four very phsical games featuring Canada/Slovakia, Norway/Latvia, Germany/France and Finland/United States.

After a very close first period that ended 1-1, Canada opened the floodgates, scoring four straight goals to take the game 6-1 and improve to 3-0-0-0 on the tournament. Canadian goaltender Logan Thompson made 34 saves on 35 shots to earn his second win of the World Championship.

Canada's goals: Pierre-Luc Dubois (x2), Adam Lowry, Cole Sillinger, Morgan Geekie.
Slovakia's goal: Samuel Takac.

In Tampere, Latvia battled Norway in what turned out to be a very tight game, with the Latvians earning their first victory of the tournament, 3-2. Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Elvis Merzlikins made 34 saves to get the win.

Latvia's goals: Rodrigo Abols, Roberts Bukarts, Nikolajs Jelisejevs.
Norway's goals: Mats Rosseli Olsen, Max Krogdahl.

In the second game of the day in Tampere, Finland defeated the United States in a penalty-filled affair. United States forward Austin Watson was ejected in the second period for a check to the head. Finland scored twice on the five minute major and won the game, 4-1. The United States had 41 penalty minutes, while the Finns had 14.

Finland's goals: Sakari Manninen, Mikael Granlund, Valtteri Filppula, Mikko Lehtonen.
United States' goal: Alex Galchenyuk.
