25-year-old goaltender Alex Georgiev is just four years into his NHL career, but has reportedly requested a trade from the New York Rangers. That's according to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, who made the statement while discussing the large amount of goalie signings Wednesday and what was left on the market for teams in the hunt for a netminder.
Seravalli did not elaborate on the request or why Georgiev wants out of New York.
Georgiev was not draft, instead signing an entry-level contract with the Rangers as a free agent after spending several seasons in Europe. He has played a total of 96 games throughout his NHL career, with a 43-38-9 record, a save percentage of .912 and a 2.55 goals against average.

If Georgiev stays with the Rangers, he'll likely be backup to fellow goaltender
Igor Shesterkin. That may have something to do with why he's requesting a trade.
