KAPRIZOV GETS OFFICIAL KHL OFFER, WHERE THINGS STAND WITH MINNESOTA

JUL 20, 2021  (21H18)      COOPER GODIN
The Minnesota Wild are continuing to try and work out a contract with RFA forward Kirill Kaprizov. Despite that, Kaprizov has received a contract offer from his former KHL club CSKA Moscow according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.

"Well the line of communication remains open, but to be honest there hasn't been a lot of movement, I'm told, between the two sides in a bit here. In the meantime, there is a legit offer, I'm told by sources, on the table in the KHL from CSKA Moscow, and it's a pretty big offer," LeBrun said on Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading on TSN.

He went on to add, "Listen, Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin is aware of this. It's not like the Wild think this is a smoke screen by Kaprizov's camp. They know there's a big offer over there, they believe they can find a way to bridge the gap here. The Wild have offered an eight-year deal, Kaprizov's camp has countered by wanting a shorter three-year deal. At the end of the day a lot of people believe this process could end by having a five-year deal later in the off-season, but in the meantime, that's a real offer over there in the KHL."

Kaprizov, 24, had a very good first season in the NHL, one that ended with him winning the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year. In 55 regular season games, he had 51 points (27 G, 24 A), 16 penalty minutes, and was a +10. He also recorded 3 points (2 G, 1 A) in 7 playoff games this season.
