The Boston Bruins got their off-season started on Monday afternoon when they announced the signing of Swedish forward Jesper Froden. Froden's contract is for one year and comes with a cap hit of $842,500.

The 26-year-old from Stockholm spent the 2020-21 season with Skelleftea AIK in the SHL, Sweden's top division. Froden finished third on his team in points (40), and was third in the entire SHL in goals with 22.

"The Bruins are very pleased to be adding Jesper to our organization," said Sweeney. "We have tracked Jesper's growth in the SHL where he has proven to be highly productive, competitive, and a smart, two-way player. Jesper is very excited to join a competitive team with the opportunity to compete for a roster spot."

In 390 regular season games in both the SHL and Sweden's second division, the HockeyAllsvenskan, Froden has tallied 122 goals, and has proven to be a vital part of his team's offence every season in his pro career since the 2013-14 season.
