Leafs promote Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser, hire another well known women's hockey player

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser has been elevated to the role of Senior Director of Player Development, and that Danielle Goyette has been hired as the club's Director of Player Development.

Wickenheiser, who is known as the greatest women's hockey player of all time, joined the Leafs during the summer of 2018 as an Assistant Director of Player Development. She has worked with players throughout the team's development program all while completing her education at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine in 2021.

Goyette has served as the head coach of the University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey program since 2007, and captured the CIS Championship in 2012. She has also served as an assistant coach of Canada's national women's hockey team on three occasions, which included a Gold Medal win at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi and the 2012 Women's World Championships in Burlington, Vermont.
