Henrik Lundqvist is currently a free agent, but that doesn't mean he isn't making contributions to the world off the ice.

The former New York Rangers goalie is teaming up with the Garden of Dreams Foundation to donate $100,000 to organizations that provide food to those in need. Among the recipients of the donation are Food Bank for New York City, Urban Outreach Center of NYC, Children's Aid NYC, and Harlem Dowling.

Lundqvist announced the charitable gesture in a video on Wednesday.

"You know, it's been a challenging year for a lot of people around the world, and especially in New York," Lundqvist said in the video. "One in three children in NYC are now food insecure. The number of New Yorkers food insecurity has raised into nearly 1.6 million; a 44 percent increase compared to pre-pandemic. New York City's average cost per meal is 26 percent higher than the national average. This all means many parents are struggling to put food on the table to feed their children."

"Therefore, we have decided at the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation in partnership with the Garden of Dreams Foundation, together, will donate $100,000 to four separate organizations to support food insecure children and their families in New York City in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope this will make a little difference. I also hope you guys are doing really well and the summer's going great. I'll see you guys around."
