It appears forward
Kevin Fiala is asking for more money and/or term than the Minnesota Wild feel he should get. The team has announced it has elected for arbitration with the 25-year-old restricted free agent before it signs him to a new deal.
There is plenty of speculation online that Fiala is asking for $7.5 to $8 million per year, and wants as many years as he can get. The team is looking for $4 to $4.5 million and apparently isn't keen on anything long-term as it still needs to sign
Kirill Kaprizov, who will be making quite a bit of money once he's signed.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, Fiala will get to choose a one or two year deal since it was the team that filed for arbitration. Both sides will have to abide by the monetary terms of the arbitrator's decision.

Boston was the only other team to ask for arbitration with a player. It filed in the case of
Brandon Carlo, but the two sides were able to come to an agreement on a six-year deal before long before the deadline. Fiala and Wild have the same opportunity. Meanwhile,
17 players have filed for arbitration hearings. ADS
