According to Darren Dreger of TSN, the Vancouver Canucks have traded defenceman
Nate Schmidt to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for 2022 third round pick. In order for the trade to be completed, Schmidt needed to waive his no-trade clause.
The news comes less than 12 hours after
The Province reported that Schmidt rejected a trade to Winnipeg after refusing to waive his no-trade clause.
Schmidt, 30, played in 54 games during the regular season for the Canucks where he tallied 15 points (5 G, 10 A), 4 penalty minutes, and was a -7. The Jets also recently picked up blueliner
Brenden Dillon from the Washington Capitals.
