Per ESPN's Emily Kaplan, the Chicago Blackhawks have acquired defenseman Seth Jones, along with a 2022 6th round pick and the 32nd pick in tonight's draft from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

This deal has been in the works for quite some time, as rumours were floating around since the end of the 2020-21 regular season.

More details on the way as they come through, but TSN's Pierre LeBrun says picks and a player involved.

On top of Boqvist, the Blue Jackets receive a pair of first round picks (12th overall tonight and Chicago's 2022 1st rounder) and a second round pick (2021). Apparently the second round pick has already been flipped by Columbus to Carolina in exchange for defensive prospect Jake Bean.

**Update from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman**

Blackhawks defenseman Adam Boqvist headed to Columbus with at least one first rounder as well as an additional draft pick.

**Update from TSN's Darren Dreger**

Jones has agreed to an 8-year extension with the Blackhawks that carries a cap hit of $9.5M per season. That amounts to $76M over the full term of the deal.

**Update from TSN's Pierre LeBrun**

Jones will officially sign his extension on Wednesday, when he enters the final year of his current contract, which enables him to sign for the 8th year. With Chicago completing the deal today, it enables them 8th-year signing rights, per the CBA.
