RASK COMMENTS ON FUTURE IN BOSTON, PLAYING NEXT YEAR AND SURGERY THAT WILL KEEP HIM OUT FOR MONTHS

After being eliminated by the New York Islanders in the second round of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Boston Bruins have a few questions that will need to be addressed in the offseason. One of the biggest ones is how to move forward between the pipes. Tuukka Rask, who has spent his entire career with the Bruins and has been the team's starter for over a decade, is an unrestricted free agent. At 34 years old, there are many that feel that Boston should move on from Rask. However, the man himself says it's the only team he wants to play for in the NHL.

"I'm not going to play for anybody else but the Bruins. This is our home. We have three kids with friends in school," Rask told reporters Friday. "I don't see any reason to go anywhere else at this point in my career."

Rask did, however, indicate that he may go back home to play.

"Maybe I go home and play in Finland? I'm part owner in a team there. Who knows?," said Rask, who is a minority owner of Ilves Tampere of the Finnish Elite League.

Rask also confirmed Friday that he will have surgery in the offseason to repair a torn labrum in his hip. That would put him on the shelf until January or February of 2022, which means he will miss a good chunk of the next regular season. That could certainly factor in to the Bruins decision on whether or not to re-sign him.

Rask was hard on himself during his media time, seemingly reflecting on his NHL career and his inability to get Boston a Cup win as a starter.

"There are very few guys that win [The Cup]. It's not easy," said Rask. "I haven't been able to yet and I just have to deal with that."

Rask does have his name on hockey's greatest prize, winning a Stanley Cup with Boston in 2011. However, he served as backup to Tim Thomas at the time and saw no action in the post season that year.
