Toronto Mayor John Tory raises Montreal Canadiens flag at Toronto City Hall

Toronto Mayor John Tory is probably sweating a bit, hoping that his latest actions don't cost him his seat, as he raised a Montreal Canadiens flag at Toronto City Hall on Thursday.

The thought of a Habs flag blowing in the wind in the Leafs' homestead is certain to rattle an already uneasy fanbase, but before folks get too enraged, it is worth noting that Tory was simply honouring a bet made with Montreal Mayor, Valerie Plante.

Ahead of the Leafs-Habs first round series, Tory and Plante came together to make the wager in innocent fun, with Tory likely coming in very confident, given the Leafs' regular season showing against the Canadiens.

Obviously, I won't get into the finer points out of respect for the fragile state that the Leafs' fanbase must be in after the shocking loss, despite holding a 3-1 series lead after 4 games, but we know the result - and good on Tory for being a man of his word.

Nevertheless, for anyone who happens to be in Toronto and rolls past City Hall and sees the Habs flag flying high, its the price that the city of Toronto had to pay for disappointment. As if they didn't already, the Leafs certainly owe their city one now.
