KADRI SUSPENSION UPHELD BY INDEPENDENT ARBITRATOR

After seeking out an independent arbitrator in hopes of getting his suspension reduce, Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri's original eight-game ruling was upheld on Tuesday morning.

Kadri received the initial suspension during the first round against the St. Louis Blues after he blindsided defenceman Justin Faulk with a high hit. Due to his previous offences, the NHL's Department of Player Safety chose to suspend him for eight-games, something Kadri did not agree with. He initially chose to appeal the suspension to commissioner Gary Bettman, who upheld it, and then most recently an independent arbitrator, who has also agreed with both the Department of Player Safety and the NHL's Commissioner.

With this news, Kadri will remain out of the lineup for Game 5 versus the Vegas Golden Knights tonight, as well as Game 6 on Thursday. If the series is to go the distance, he would be eligible to return for Game 7. Given how even these two teams appear to be, that is certainly a possibility. As of now, the series is tied at two apiece, with the Avalanche taking Games 1 and 2 but the Golden Knights responding with wins in Games 3 and 4.
