Speaking with media after a 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks goaltender
Thatcher Demko made it very clear he wants his goalie coach, Ian Clark, to be re-signed for next season.
«Clark is unbelievable, I owe just about everything to him,» Demko said. «I don't speak too much about him in the media, but while I'm putting in the work he's guided me, mentored me. I desperately hope they can figure something out.»
Clark, who is in his second stint as the Canucks goaltending coach, was hired by the team prior to the 2019-20 season. He previously served as their goaltending coach from 2002-2010, and has also spent time as a goalie coach for both the Florida Panthers and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Canucks recently gave Demko a five-year, $25 million deal which means they view him as their starting goalie moving forward. With that being the case, they should want to keep him happy and signing Clark would certainly do that.
