Former NHL enforcer Brandon Prust has certainly come to be known for his hot takes recently, but his latest Twitter post might take the proverbial cake.

On Friday, Prust went on a bit of a rant, comparing COVID-19 to both cancer and diabetes - two diseases that are not contagious - seeming to conclude that we should all just go back to normal.

"Cancer kills about 80k Canadians a year but yet you can buy as many cigarettes as you want. Diabetes kills about 40k Canadians a year but u can drinks as much pop and eat as many cheeseburgers as you want. Covid[-19] kills 25k Canadians in a year and a half. Don't you dare leave ur house," Prust said in his tweet.

In a subsequent tweet, he said "Don't you dare leave your house. Unless you're going to get smokes or McDonald's lol".

Surely, he must be trolling.. right? You'd certainly hope so. Surely, he's aware of the fact that COVID-19 is the most easily transmissible virus on the planet and has killed almost 3.3M people globally.

It's pretty ignorant of the former NHL winger to compare a virus that can impact your ability to breathe properly, one of the most basic human needs. Never mind the fact that both diabetes and cancer are two things a person can be diagnosed with even without negligent behavior.

Prust is currently taking a beating online for his unbelievable comparison - and rightfully so.

As a former enforcer, Prust has become accustomed to taking his licks. Hopefully he does so in this case as well.

This one left me shaking my head.. bad, bad take by Prust, that.
