Alex Ovechkin, Tom Wilson have reportedly reached out to Artemiy Panarin directly

The coverage of the Tom Wilson/Artemiy Panarin dust up and the subsequent war between the two sides that carried over into Wednesday has been extensive, to say the least.

With mostly all of the energy surrounding the ordeal being negative in nature, there was some positive vibes flowing behind the scenes, particularly between Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, Tom Wilson and Artemiy Panarin, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Dreger reported on Thursday's edition of Insider Trading that both Ovechkin and Wilson have reached out to Panarin to ensure that he is alright after his clash with the latter of the two.

According to Dreger there was concern from both Ovi and Wilson after the fact and that Wilson wanted to personally wish Panarin a speedy recovery and to apologize for the way things went down, as it most certainly did not go down as he intended.


Despite the harsh feelings that folks seem to have for Tom Wilson, who is a highly competitive player, he is also a human being who is not above realizing that he did wrong. It's nice to hear that he reached out to Panarin to try to make things right.

The narratives that we, as fans, try to spin in our heads doesn't always reflect the off-ice realities and I think this is a good example of that. Kudos to Ovi and Wilson for checking in on Panarin.
