KHL SNIPER SET TO SIGN NHL CONTRACT

APR 22, 2021  (7H44)      COOPER GODIN
Only a couple days after re-signing Russian defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin, the Arizona Coyotes have their sights set on another KHL star. According to Mikhail Zislis of Sport-Express.ru, the Arizona Coyotes are close to signing former St. Louis Blues, and Washington Capitals forward Dmitrij Jaskin to a one-year contract.

Jaskin, 28, was drafted by St. Louis in the second round, 41st overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He spent six years in the Blues organization, before being claimed off waivers by Washington, where he spent the 2018-19 season.

After 7 years in North American, Jaskin returned overseas, this time to the KHL where he signed with Dynamo Moscow. In his two years with Dynamo Moscow, Jaskin turned into a scoring machine. During the 2019-20 season, Jaskin finished the season second in the KHL in points (63) and goals (31) in 58 games. His 31 goals set a new franchise record for most in a single season in Dynamo Moscow history.

During the 2020-21 season, Jaskin continued to roll, finishing fourth in the league in points (60) and first in goals (38), which broke his previous franchise record of 31. His 38 goas this past season was also the second highest amount scored in a single KHL season only behind Sergei Mozyakin who scored 48 in the 2016-17 season.

The Yotes are certainly hoping he can continue to be an offensive threat upon his return to the NHL. According to Sport-express.ru, Jaskin has an offer from Dynamo Moscow for next season worth about $1.5 million. The offer from Arizona is believes to be $2 million.
