HABS RECEIVE BOOST AT PRACTICE WITH RETURN OF TWO PLAYERS

APR 14, 2021  (12H39)      COOPER GODIN
When the Montreal Canadiens took to the ice at their practice facility in Brossard on Wednesday, two names that have been out of the lineup were among those at the morning skate, Joel Armia, and Ben Chiarot.

Armia has been skating for the past few days in anticipation of a return to the lineup following his COVID-19 diagnosis. He skated on on the third line with Nick Suzuki and Tyler Toffoli.

After the morning skate, Armia talked with reporters for the first time since entering the NHL's COVID-19 protocol back on March 22nd. The 27-year-old explained that the first four-to-five days of having COVID-19 he experienced some body aches, but didn't go into details on any other symptoms. It's also believed that Armia had tested positive for the B.1.1.7 variant of COVID-19 which originated in the United Kingdom.

The Pori, Finland native added that his conditioning skates went well last weekend, and that his energy levels are back up to normal after his symptoms passed. Canadiens interim head coach Dominique Ducharme echoed the same sentiments, saying that Armia is 100% and will play on Wednesday night against the Calgary Flames.

Before joining the main group for the morning skate, Ben Chiarot was on the ice with Carey Price. Chiarot has been out of the Habs lineup for roughly six weeks after fracturing his right hand in a fight with Canucks forward J.T. Miller on March 10th. Chiarot had surgery on his right hand on March 15th, and he's approaching the six-week mark where he can return to the lineup. All signs point to Chiarot returning when the Canadiens head out west for their 5-game road trip in Alberta.

Price has not played since April 5th against Edmonton due to a lower-body injury. Last Thursday, Dominique Ducharme said that Price would not be available until some point this week, but it's unclear when he will return. Jake Allen will get the start on Wednesday against Calgary, while the Habs have back-to-back's on Friday against Calgary and Saturday against Ottawa, so it's possible, depending on how he feels, that Price could return for one of those games.
